Ali Ekber Cinar is a doctoral candidate at the McGill University Faculty of Law, specializing in two primary research areas: [1] law and technology, with a focus on artificial intelligence (AI) and intellectual property (IP); and [2] law and religion, particularly in Islamic finance and Ottoman legal history.

His academic work frequently engages with comparative law and legal history.
