Working Group 2 : Limits of Digitalization
The goal of this working group is to identify the constraints and limits on digitalization of justice with respect to the traditions, practices and rituals in the justice setting. For example, we might wonder about the relevance of rising to address the court in the framework of an online digital environment. This analysis will be twinned with a psychological and sociological study of the behaviour, attitudes and perceptions of the main stakeholders in the justice environment (individuals involved in cases, lawyers, judges, the government, etc.) as well as how they are affected by information and communications technologies, for example, videoconferencing. By focussing on the interactions taking place in the hearing room, the Group will be able to identify factors contributing to stakeholders’ resistance to change and whether those issues are economic, social, cultural or psychological, and then suggest concrete, well-adapted solutions.
