VIRAJ: Virtualization and Augmentation of Justice

The VIRAJ project - Virtualization and Augmentation of Justice - proposes to continue and deepen the research carried out by the Cyberjustice Laboratory in order to evaluate and frame the introduction of augmented reality and virtualization technologies into judicial processes. It follows on from previous projects, such as Towards Cyberjustice and Autonomy through Cyberjustice Technologies (ACT).

The overall aim of the project is to promote the reasoned introduction of these technologies into judicial systems, while respecting the founding principles of Justice. The project has two complementary objectives:

  1. A techno-legal objective, aimed at examining how augmented reality and virtualization technologies can be integrated to enhance the capabilities of judicial systems, while minimizing the associated risks;
  2. A socio-legal objective, aimed at analyzing the impact of these technologies on the behavior of users and legal professionals, formulating recommendations for their use, and designing tools that respect the fundamental principles of Justice.
