Sébastien Meeùs is a PhD student in Law at Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB) in partnership with Université de Montréal (UdeM). A research assistant at HEC Paris within the Smart Law Hub, at ULB at the Perelman Centre and at UdeM in the Cyberjustice Laboratory, he is also ULB's Data Law course's teaching assistant. Sébastien, who holds a Master in Law with Economic and Social Purpose from ULB, and a Master of Specialization in Information and Communication Technology Law from the University of Namur (delivered within CRIDS), both obtained with Distinction.
His research focuses on the legal impacts of web3 and video games and the shaping of digital habits in the metaverse. During his tenure as a research assistant, Sébastien worked on the development of technolegal tools for legal compliance (GDPR-120, JusticeBot) as well as participated in reflections on normative power and its articulation in digital environments in Canada, the European Union and around the world following a global law approach. In this continuity, his thesis focuses on regulatory issues in the compliance of technological tools via an empirical analysis and legal retroengineering of technical processes in digital environments.
Committed to sharing knowledge in an original setting, Sébastien launched the Legal Pixels YouTube channel to address the special relationship between law and digital. He also received the ULB 2023 Scientific Diffusion Award for his CyberLex videos.
