Emma Lunardi is a dedicated and highly motivated PhD student in Innovation, Science, Technology and Law at the Université de Montréal, with a strong academic background in legal studies, where she wrote a thesis on the impact of artificial intelligence systems on fundamental rights in democratic constitutions, achieving the highest grade of 110/110 with honors. She also studied at Panthéon-Assas University in Paris, where she deepened her knowledge of European law and programming (Python and R). Emma’s research focuses on the intersection of law and artificial intelligence, with a particular interest for civil and criminal liability in the use of autonomous systems, between Europe and North America. Specializing in international investment law, data protection (GDPR), and commercial law, Emma also won the Bologna Startup Prize 2023 for a business plan project related to AI.
Professionally, Emma has gained diverse experience as a research assistant at the Cyberjustice Laboratory in Montreal and as a bilingual administration officer at the Laurentian Bank of Canada. She has also worked in labor law consulting in Italy, showcasing her versatility in both administrative and legal roles. Fluent in Italian, French, and English, Emma is passionate about legal innovation, data analysis, and programming, with skills in Python, C++, and JavaScript. Committed to personal and professional growth, she actively volunteers and engages in academic and extracurricular activities, aiming to contribute to legal progress in a rapidly evolving technological world.
