Mohamed Aziz Fatnassi is a Ph.D. candidate in Law in an international joint doctoral program between the University of Montreal in Canada and Jean Moulin Lyon 3 in France, under the supervision of Professors Pierre Larouche and Ludovic Pailler. He is a research assistant at the Cyberjustice Laboratory, a teaching assistant at the Faculty of Law (University of Montreal), and a member of the Disputes Resolution Laboratory at Tunis El Manar University.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Private Law from Tunis El Manar University, where he ranked third in his class. He subsequently specialized in new technologies law by completing a Master 1 in Intellectual Property and Digital Law at Paris-Saclay University, followed by a Master 2 in Intellectual Property and Digital Business Law (PIDAN) at the same institution, where he ranked fifth in his class.
His research focuses on the transformations of law in the digital age and has been published in peer-reviewed scientific journals in Germany, Tunisia, and Canada. It explores the originality of AI-assisted creations, the evidentiary value of blockchain-based documents, the regulation of digital giants (GAFAM, NATU, BATX), and algorithmic governance.
During his academic journey in Paris, he initiated a fruitful collaboration between the Business Law and New Technologies Laboratory at Paris-Saclay University and the Disputes Resolution Laboratory at Tunis El Manar University, which led to the organization of the international conference “Law and Digital Technology”, held in Tunis on February 9–10, 2022, bringing together scholars and practitioners to discuss the challenges of digitalization.
His background also includes professional experience in European and North African law firms specializing in technology law, intellectual property law, data protection, business law, and commercial law.
