Prof Karim Benyekhlef at the OECD Global Roundtable on Equal Access to Justice (Nov. 12-14, Madrid)

From 12 to 14 November 2025, in Madrid, Professor Karim Benyekhlef, Director of the Cyberjustice Laboratory, has the honour of participating in the 2025 edition of the OECD Global Roundtable on Equal Access to Justice, entitled Justice Leaders' Dialogue: Shaping the Future of Justice.

This year's Roundtable is held under the theme ‘Shaping the Future of Justice: Building a System that Inspires Trust and Promotes Shared Prosperity.’ Professor Benyekhlef spoke at the AI and Justice Sector Transformation panel.

Together with his fellow panellists, he addressed the following questions:

  • How can justice institutions build the technical, legal, and ethical capacity required to implement and oversee AI tools, while ensuring that their use reduces existing inequalities in access to justice?
  • What principles and safeguards should guide the deployment of AI in justice systems to ensure fairness, transparency, and accountability, especially when decisions may significantly impact individuals’ lives?
  • What mechanisms can be implemented to ensure redress in cases of harm or error linked to the use of AI tools in justice systems?
