La facture - Question of the week on PARLe consommation
The PARLe consommation platform is featured in the November 12, 2024 episode of Radio-Canada's “La facture”.
The result of a research partnership with the Cyberjustice Laboratory, the negotiation and mediation platform, created in 2016 and operated by the Office de la protection du consommateur (OPC), is used by over 250 merchants.
The average rate of settlement on the platform is 76%, confirms the OPC. In the automotive sector, however, the rate is 56%, Office spokesman Charles Tanguay tells La facture. (Loose translation)
As of January 2025, almost all new vehicle dealers will be required to use this platform. Indeed, the Corporation des concessionnaires automobiles du Québec (CCAQ), which represents over 90% of the province's dealers, recently announced that it would impose this obligation on all its members.
