Le Laboratoire de cyberjustice a le plaisir de vous inviter à la conférence Montreal 2024, Generative AI and Justice, qui se tiendra le 1er octobre 2024 au Laboratoire.

 

Cette conférence est une occasion unique pour les acteurs du droit et de la justice de mieux comprendre et de se positionner sur les usages émergents dans plusieurs secteurs de l’utilisation de l’IA générative, une technologie qui suscite à la fois enthousiasme et inquiétude. Venez rencontrer des acteurs internationaux de premiers plans et des experts ayant déployés de premières solutions d’IA générative dans divers secteurs (Santé, Droit, Conseil et Administration), découvrir les meilleures pratiques liées à son intégration pour envisager l’avenir de cette nouvelle technologie pour le droit et de la justice.

 

Conférence inaugurale

Une conférence inaugurale qui offrira une compréhension approfondie de l’impact interdisciplinaire de l’IA générative, en mettant l’accent sur les transformations qu’elle a engendrées dans les industries au cours de l’année écoulée, les technologies et applications importantes qui peuvent être citées comme des jalons, ainsi que les orientations futures de l’IA générative et de ses applications pour l’année à venir.

Le premier panel The Dual Paths: Public and Private Sectors in the AI Landscape, modéré par le Prof. Nicolas Vermeys, directeur adjoint du Laboratoire de cyberjustice, portera sur le caractère évolutif des plateformes publiques et privées mobilisant l’IA générative. Il réunira des experts éminents du domaine, notamment, M. Brad Brown, Chef des opérations en droit administratif et technologies émergentes, secteur public chez MITRE, Mme Olga V. Le second panel, Real-World AI: Success Stories and Lessons Learned, modéré par Me Valentin Callipel, chargé de mission au Laboratoire de cyberjustice, est une série de présentations de différentes entreprises ayant utilisé l’IA générative dans leurs opérations. M. Maxime Simard, directeur client senior – Legal Tech chez Thomson Reuters, Mme Erin Walker, directrice de la stratégie et de l’activation chez Clio, et Mme Elise Tropiano, directrice senior de l’équipe produit chez Relativity présenteront leurs études de cas et leurs succès dans la mise en œuvre de l’IA générative au sein de leurs entreprises respectives.

Erin Walker is the Director of Strategy and Enablement at Clio, and has been working in digital communications since Netscape Navigator was a viable web browser. She has extensive experience operationalizing technology to achieve business goals, and she’s « practically obsessed » with AI, speaking to thousands of lawyers worldwide about AI in legal. She is passionate about using technology to solve problems and make the world a better place.

As a Senior Director on the Product team at Relativity, Elise manages the strategy roadmap for Relativity’s AI-powered review products: Review Center, Search, and most recent to market, aiR for Review. She has been at Relativity for close to 9 years, always focused on core AI products.

 

 

Maxime simard

Maxime est Directeur Client spécialisé en Technologie Juridique chez Thomson Reuters, où il a occupé divers postes au cours des 11 dernières années. Avec une vaste expérience dans l’assistance aux clients en gestion du changement juridique, Maxime conseille désormais sur les SaaS juridiques de productivité et de rédaction utilisant l’IA générative.

 

Panel 3 – Building the Future: Crafting Generative AI Solutions

 

Le troisième panel, Building the Future: Crafting Generative AI Solutions, animé par Jinzhe Tan, auxiliaire de recherche au Laboratoire de recherche, rassemble des experts ayant une expérience pratique de l’utilisation de l’IA générative dans leurs organisations. Ils discuteront des défis liés à l’intégration de cette technologie et présenteront les solutions qu’ils adoptent et adopteront pour favoriser un développement efficace et éthique de l’IA générative au sein de leurs structures respectives. Mme Karen Hulan, conseillère à la Law Society of Ontario et Mme Maria Khalusova, spécialiste du support technique développeur chez Unstructured.io partageront leurs expériences des plus pertinentes.

Karen hulan

Karen is an elected Lawyer Bencher with the Law Society of Ontario and an Adjudicator with the Law Society Tribunal. She is Co-Chair of the Law Society’s Futures Committee and Member of its Professional Development and Competence Committee and Lawyers Professional Indemnity Review Task Force. Karen is Past President of the Middlesex Law Association and a member of the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association.


Maria khalusova

Maria Khalusova, a Staff Developer Advocate at Unstructured.io, currently works on addressing the challenges of preprocessing complex unstructured data for GenAI applications, such as Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG). Previously, she contributed to the field through her work on open-source projects at Hugging Face, and educational efforts to make building GenAI applications broadly accessible to all.

Panel 4 – Designing with Empathy: Generative AI and User-Centric Solutions

 

Le quatrième panel, intitulé Designing with Empathy: Generative AI for User-Centric Solutions, se concentrera sur la conception d’outils d’IA générative axés sur des solutions empathiques, mettant l’accent sur l’utilisateur et ses besoins. Des professionnels du domaine expliqueront comment leur outil d’IA générative prend en compte l’impact sur l’utilisateur, en évitant l’instrumentalisation, et en répondant à des problèmes concrets en adoptant le point de vue de l’utilisateur. Le panel inclura des chercheurs de renommée dans ce domaine, tels que le Prof. A.T. Kingsmith du Humber College et la Prof. Hoda Heidari de Carnegie Mellon School of Computer Science dont les perspectives seront certainement très éclairantes. De plus, M. Ivan Alfaro, directeur senior des produits en intelligence artificielle chez Relativity partagera également l’expérience de Relativity dans la conception d’un outil d’IA générative qui analyse le sentiment des utilisateurs.

Prof. A.t Kingsmith  

A.T. (Adam) Kingsmith is a writer, technologist, and mental health researcher. His work focuses on the political economy of anxiety and the development of emotion-AI systems to improve social and economic outcomes. He completed his PhD at York University and currently teaches in Faculty of Arts and Science at OCADU. He is also co-founder of EiQ Technologies Inc., an emotion-AI startup formerly based at Toronto Metropolitan University’s Creative Innovation Studio.

 

prof. Hoda Heidari

Hoda Heidari is the K&L Gates Career Development Assistant Professor in Ethics and Computational Technologies at Carnegie Mellon University, with joint appointments in Machine Learning and Societal Computing. She is affiliated with the Human-Computer Interaction Institute and Heinz College of Information Systems and Public Policy. Her research is broadly concerned with the social, ethical, and economic implications of Artificial Intelligence, particularly issues of fairness and accountability through the use of Machine Learning in socially consequential domains.

 

ivan alfaro

Ivan Alfaro is a Senior AI Product Manager at Relativity, where he has worked for seven years. He manages a portfolio of AI products, including sentiment analysis, and has co-authored white papers on Relativity’s approach to developing responsible AI solutions for e-Discovery and Investigation. Ivan holds an MSc and PhD in Management of Information Systems.
