This note provides a guide to the introduction of online dispute resolution (ODR) as part of the civil justice system in England and Wales. It explains the proposals for online reform, including the development of an online court, and the extent to which these have been progressed as part of the HM Courts and Tribunal Service (HMCTS) court reform programme. It provides information on relevant current pilot schemes, including the Online Civil Money Claims pilot and the Damages Claims Online pilot and the development of Online Procedure Rule and the Online Procedure Rule Committee. It also contains information on other ODR initiatives, including the LawtechUK work programme.
