AI as the Inevitable: Legal Explores the Frontier of Machine Learning
While financial, services and other industries charge head-on into the technological future, legal’s embrace of technology has been a reluctant move at best.
As Clutch Group president Brandon Daniels told me in a conversation earlier this week, when it comes to legal, “the application of artificial intelligence tends to create some trepidation.”
Nevertheless, exponential increases in data, coupled with new regulatory complexities, have ushered in much technological exploration, transforming machine learning’s role in the legal industry from virtually nonexistent to nascent. And as artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities evolve beyond the more “traditional roles” within e-discovery and research, technology that can make predictions are growing in popularity.
