Description 

In this webinar, Jason Thomas will review a qualitative research study that outlines the traits of computers uses that fall prey to spear phishing attacks and the recommendations from the study to segment users for training and cybersecurity awareness.  At the end of the presentation there is a be a discussion of the factors involved in cybersecurity awareness and how these factors are evolving in COVID-19 influenced growing distributed work environment.

About the speaker 

Jason Thomas, Ph.D., CISM, CISSP, is the President of the Collective Group, a technology firm specializing in data protection, risk management, and cybersecurity. before joining Collective in 2000, Jason was in charge of Agilisys's Storage Management Practice and led IBM Global Services Storage Consulting Practice. Additionally, Jason spent nine years in the United States Army assigned to the National Security Agency as a Military Intelligence Cryptologic Linguist specializing in electronic warfare operations (cybersecurity).

Having attended the National Security Agency Cryptologic Services School (NSA/CSS), graduating three times from the Defense Language Institute, Foreign Language Center (DLI, FLC) at the Presidio of Monterrey, and several traditional universities such as Texas A&M-Jason is a staunch advocate for higher education and remains a lifelong learner. He commits volunteer time as a mentor, guest lecturer, and adjunct instructor in business and cybersecurity for higher-education institutions such as Texas A&M University, Concordia University - Texas, Excelsior College, and Grand Canyon University. Jason holds bachelor's degrees in Business Information Systems and Liberals Arts with a concentration in Eastern European Languages, graduate certificates in Information System Security, Digital Forensics, and Homeland Security, master's degrees in Business Administration (MBA), Public Service & Administration (MPSA) in Homeland Security, and IT Information Assurance and Security (MSIT), and a doctorate (PhD) in Business Administration with a specialization in Marketing Strategy; he holds several IT and cybersecurity certifications including the Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) and Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP). Jason is a member of the advisory board for the Texas A&M Cybersecurity Center and serves as a board advisor the Austin FBI Infragard.
